Bastille Day has passed, the casting call is over and August is just around the corner.  Some might think that we’re stuck in the End-Of-July Limbo: That period when summer’s not quite over, but the realization of time’s fleeting nature occurs to those who would rather remain blithely unaware of it.

To those individuals, we say: “Let them eat cake!”  Wait, that’s not right.  To those individuals, we say, “Carpe Diem!”  Summer is far from over and this week’s events go above and beyond to indicate such.  In fact, after the total rip-off that was the month of June, summer has practically just begun.  We’ve only just started to witness scorching hot days and melting ice cream cones; if we have our way, these things will continue well into September.

What’s our version of optimism?  Days full of endless ice cold drinks, sun and temperatures in the 80s until, all of a sudden, it’s time to go home for Thanksgiving.  Here’s hoping!

So, Nature, because you have created such grief, the profanity embargo has been lifted and we will hesitate no longer to say:  You need to get the fuck over yourself and act like it’s June, asshole.

We know you’ll take our advice.  After all, if your course of action continues as it has at present, it will make us want to CUT A BITCH.  In the meantime, however, we’ll continue featuring both indoor and outdoor events, ones that would be better with a big yellow thing protruding from the sky, but can still go on without it.  Because, really, at the end of the day, we’re still Red Sox fans.  We’ve been through worse than a little rain.

National Pollinator Week Celebration

Pollination is a process crucial to our ecosystem; in fact, the Pollinator Partnership estimates that honeybees alone “pollinate products amounting to $20 billion annually in the U.S.”  That’s why they, along with birds, bats, butterflies, moths and other insects are being honored for their work as pollinators through June 28.

Miel at the waterfront’s Intercontinental Hotel kicks off the weeklong celebration tonight with a special ‘Taste of Miel’ menu that brings together the taste of honey (which is what the restaurant’s name means in French) with other culinary samplings from Provence.

Ahoy, music enthusiasts!  Rock & Blues Concert Cruises returns for another weekend at sea, this time with Cambridge’s own Ryan Montbleau Band.  Cruises typically are three hours long and do not have reserved seating, making for a fantastic night of mingling.

Check out the Bon Voyage pre-parties at nearby spot The Landing, starting at 3:30 and 7:30 P.M., respectively.  Keep a close eye on the time, though; from what we’ve heard, you don’t want to miss the boat.
